With the Tormek T-4, you get a quality machine ideal for home and hobby. You have access to Tormek's extensive jig system and can sharpen virtually all common cutting tools.
The Tormek T-4 is an evolution of the T-3 model that takes precision and stability to a whole new level. Vital functions such as the motor and main shaft are mounted in the cast zinc upper part, where the sleeves for the universal support are also integrated. This design provides unbeatable precision for the universal support, which is pivotal for all jigs and accessories. Like the larger machine models, the T-4 is equipped with Tormek’s original grinding stone SG-200. It is optimized to combine efficient steel removal, provide a fine finish, and last long. With the included stone truer SP-650, you can alternate the stone's surface from 220 grit to a surface equivalent to 1000 grit, giving you two different sharpening qualities in one and the same stone.
The Tormek T-4 is well-suited for sharpening chisels, knives, scissors, and smaller tools like wood carving tools. It also works for lathe tools and drills, but for machine plane blades and profile blades, one of Tormek's larger models is recommended. Note that a few shapes of lathe gouges cannot be ground with the gouge jig SVD-186 on the leather honing wheel due to the compact format of the Tormek T-4. These tools can instead be sharpened freehand.
The motor is rated for 30 minutes of operation at a time. Usually, this is more than sufficient for household needs, but if you are sharpening more, we advise you to look at one of the larger machine models that can run continuously.
